Use and Care of WoodenwareMany new styles and brands of cookware have a cooking surface that can be damaged when metal is used on them. Hardwood utensils are gentler to those surfaces and will not scratch glass pans. We recommend keeping the pieces maintained with mineral oil. Depending on how much the piece is used (daily basis versus occasional use), it will be apparent when it needs to be oiled. It may not feel smooth to the touch or you will notice the working end has lost its original lustre. Basically, dipping a clean lint-free cloth in mineral oil and rubbing that into the wood will improve the appearance of a piece of well used woodenware. Do not put any woodenware into the dishwasher. To clean a utensil that has caked-on food, a scrubber suitable for Teflon products works well. Also, it's okay to clean wooden utensils with dish soap & water, but the exposure to water should be minimal. Hand wash and dry works best. If you have a favorite piece that needs refinishing, please contact us and we will help restore it. |
